It has been almost 30 years since the documentation guidelines for office and outpatient visits were written.  As part of the Patients Over Paperwork Act these outdated guidelines are being retired and the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have created new guidelines that go into effect for dates of service beginning January 1, 2021

Lynn Anderanin, CPC, CPPM, CPMA, CPC-I, COSC, is the Sr. Coding Educator for Healthcare Information Services, a physician’s revenue cycle management company in Chicago. She has over 35 years’ experience in all areas of the physician practice, specializing in Orthopaedics.  Lynn is currently a Workshop and Audio Presenter. She is a former member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) National Advisory Board, as well as several other boards for the AAPC. She is also the founder of her Local Chapter of the AAPC.
